Finding a restroom or restaurant is now going to be pretty easy for travelers while visiting a new location. Point Inside has just come out with version 2.0 of its Indoor Smart Map app for iPhone users. With this new app, users will have access to interactive, searchable maps of over 50 airports in the U.S. and Canada with extensive Point of Interest directory listings.
The maps allow users to search free-form text and directory lists as well as interact directly with the map to get more information. The destination when selected is highlighted by a pin on the map. This highlighting enables users to ‘customize’ the path towards the destination according to their traveling needs like finding a restroom or deciding about a particular restaurant.

The Indoor Smart Map app includes the earlier maps and directories for over 500 shopping centers. To help users view their current location, SmartFix, Point Inside’s proprietary indoor location method can be used. SmartFix uses GPS, cell towers or Wi-Fi to locate users’ position, if it is unable to do so users can manually enter their location by selecting a nearby landmark. Users can now easily plan their trip better and make faster decisions about the journey with the help of this app.
The app doesn’t require a wireless connection after the initial download. It can be used in ‘airplane mode’ while on an airplane, in order to plan layover activities like finding a restaurant or to determine the best route to a connecting gate, baggage claim, or any other service. Apart from this, users can easily view locations of all restrooms, restaurants, ATM’s or special promotions highlighted on the map of the airports and malls with the help of its quick keys. Over 50 airport maps are already available in the app and more are expected to be added soon.
