Ply concept phone unveiled by KDDI

Ply concept phone

The Ply mobile phone concept from Hideo Kanbara is the latest phone from the KDDI Designing Studio. A must check, the handset is fabricated to bring your office a step closer to you.

The device gets its name from the multilayered plywood used to design it. Each individual layer of the phone comes with its very own functions that range from a photo printer to game controller to mini digital projector. The conceptual device takes its inspiration from the multiple layers of a wooden sandwich in plywood.

With a multiple slider design, the Ply concept phone is separated by tabs on the inside. The intrinsic part of the phone sports a printer, projector, gamepad and sliding downward, a dialpad.

Though it may seem far-fetched, current technology proves that nothing is impossible. The take-off of this device depends on the miniaturization of technology. We suppose it should be durable as well considering its thickness. It seems difficult to maintain a certain standard of rigidity for something so slim.

If this imaginary device does manage to reach the mobile markets, KDDI labs should pat themselves for designing a phone with so much character.

The worldwide availability of this phone is not yet known.
