The highly anticipated Apple iPhone 3G has finally landed on the Indian soil. The much awaited iPhone 3G is now official, as stated earlier on August 22. Airtel unveiled the iPhone 3G at the Infinity Mall, Mumbai at the stroke of 12 am.

Well, we were wondering about the 3G network that is still caught up in legal limbo. But at the unveiling, Mr. K Srinivas, Executive Director, Bharti Airtel Ltd. tells us that the iPhone will support the 3G network whenever the government gives it a nod. Till then with or without 3G, you can grab this iconic touchscreen beauty.

The iPhone 3G was unveiled by Raj Kumar Kanojia, one of the first customers to buy the iPhone along with Mr. Manu Talwar – CEO – M&G circle – Bharti Airtel Ltd. and K Srinivas

The 8 GB and 16 GB models of the iPhone 3G are extensively priced at Rs.31,000 and Rs.36,100 respectively. Apparently the iPhone continues with the trend, where the phone does not support sms forwarding and cannot record a video. However the phone is rich in its features such as attractive games, 3.5-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi connectivity, Assisted GPS and many more.

The iPhone was launched in various cities across India at mid-night. It will be available at various exclusive outlets of the mobile operator and also at the Apple stores.
