Captain Jack Sparrow is back in an all new adventure packed movie. Now fans can look forward to following their favorite pirate anywhere he goes. That’s because, Verizon Wireless has just released its new Pirate Discovery App, which is an official mobile app for Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. This exciting new offering is intended for select Android smartphones on the carrier’s network where users can engage in the pillaging world of pirates, before and after the movie hits theaters on May 20, 2011.
Pirate Discovery App provides instant access to exclusive rich content from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides movie, including interesting character bios, amazing movie stills and artwork. Users can buy movie tickets once the film releases, talk about the film with other fans by creating Facebook or Twitter posts from right within the app. Additionally, anyone who downloads it before May 7, 2011 can seamlessly stream live footage of the world premiere, a pre-film event slated to take place at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

From May 17 to June 14, 2011, Jack Sparrow fans can play Disney’s new mobile game for Android named ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Master of the Seas’ enabling them to customize ships, create virtual marauding pirates, duel in simulated battles and take on deadly quests. It will also offer a built-in rewards program to earn goodies that can be redeemed via the app. This program permits consumer to access new video discovery and search technology from VideoSurf by merely positioning their handsets in the direction of the TV or PC to identify Verizon television and designated Web videos from the movie.
The free Pirate Discovery App is currently available for download via Android Market or by texting ‘AHOY’ to 52011 for select 3G and 4G Android handset owners.
