Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 rugged laptop out in India for Rs 139000

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 has been launched in India for a whopping Rs 139000, the company boasting the semi-rugged laptop is the thinnest and lightest in its category. It’s aimed at on-the-go professionals and has been designed to integrate within existing IT infrastructures.

Rugged laptops are usually heavy, but this time round the Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 attempts to combine durability with the specs and lightness of a regular PC. It’s 29.8mm thick and weighs 1.99kg, the brand claiming the device is 50% thinner and 25% lighter than its predecessor, the CF-53.

The robust Panasonic laptop has a spill-proof keyboard and is capable of enduring shocks and vibrations to a certain extent. It can further survive a drop from a height of 2.5 feet. The gadget’s built-in battery can last up to 11 hours, with the option of a second hot swappable one that lets the user switch between them without stopping their work.

Panasonic says the durability of the PC means it’s sturdy enough to be used for doing work in the field and by service engineers in the automotive diagnostic industry. They further stated the laptop has been built with smooth deployments and ongoing support in mind, ensuring it a longer life cycle within an organization.

The Toughbook CF-54 has a 14-inch sunlight viewable screen that allows it to be clearly seen even when used outside. Under the hood, its hardware consists of 4GB of RAM, expandable till 16GB, and a 5th generation Intel CoreTM i5-5300U vProTM processor combined with 3MB of cache, clocked at 2.3GHz to 2.9GHz with Intel Turbo Boost.

Various features of the Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 laptop can be customized according to individual customer needs. It offers options such as a PC Card, VGA, a fingerprint and contactless smart card reader, a rugged USB port and a second LAN outlet.
