Painting with Time iPad app offers creativity with a twist

Painting With Time

Lending a unique twist to creativity is the freshly released Painting with Time iPad app. Through this application, users are allowed to literally paint and draw with time. Beautiful artworks can be created by combining different shots of a particular thing taken at various stages of time.

This software has been developed by the creators of the Exploring Time international documentary series and the Playing with Time traveling museum exhibition. Creative owners of the iPad can add an incoming tide in a picture of a whirlpool or include colorful leaves on a withered tree in winter. Every scene can basically depict the slow natural processes that we observe over a period of time in one go.

“People cannot perceive the immense amount of slow change taking place all around us – our brains are not wired that way. Our visual system evolved to see dangers and avoid being eaten – not detect slow moving events like the tide rising, the passing of seasons, people aging, or changes in climate. Centuries of scientific discovery helped reveal these patterns of change and new technologies are continuing to reveal the amazing dynamics of our world. The Painting with Time app is a small window into a vast and growing field of timescale explorations from trillionths of seconds to billions of years,” cited, Bob Hone, originator of the Exploring Time transmedia concept.

The iOS app offers users an array of different time brushes and special time slicers by which photos can be transformed into pretty works of art. Through the ‘Mix and Merge’ functionality, numerous time views can be brought together within composites. Built by Red Hill Senior Engineer, Charlie Brown, the application features 14 crafted time sequences of art, people and nature.

The Painting with Time iPad app can now be downloaded for free from the App Store.
