The Ovi Store, meant for downloading multimedia content and other applications on Symbian powered mobile phones is now being renamed as the Nokia Store, as a part a rebranding policy announced by the company in May this year. The makeover is not just limited to a name change, but the store is now expected to deliver a better performance and user experience as it will be powered by Qt Quick.

According to the strategy expressed by the company earlier this year, it should undergo some major changes in its operations worldwide and this is expected to continue till at least the first quarter of 2012. In terms of branding policy, the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer says that each of its services will gradually be renamed as Nokia, without affecting the service roadmaps of the same.

As part of the transition from Ovi Store to Nokia Store, several developments and enhanced features are promised by the company. One of them is enhanced speed of the app, which allows it to load, run, and respond in a smoother manner. Also, the purchasing process for the app will now be quicker and more user-friendly. Users will not be prompted for a password at check-out anymore if they are already signed into their Nokia accounts.

Other than this, the app is now adorned with a new and improved navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. This enables users to search and find content in a better manner. The utility is backed with an error handling system as well, which comes in handy when dealing with unexpected complications while buying apps.

The new Nokia Store is compatible with all Symbian-based devices, just like Ovi Store. Nokia says that it should soon make itself available on such handsets. But till then, users are also being provided with a beta version of Store QML client from Beta Labs.
