Motorola Spyder on its way to Verizon Wireless?

The latest images spilled over the web spell out a new Motorola Spyder smartphone coming out through Verizon Wireless. This handset may ring a bell to some by the name of Droid HD or Droid Razr, made somewhat obvious by the fact that it is going to Verizon.

Towards the end of last month, we were introduced to images of a Motorola handset guarded with Gorilla Glass on the front, and probably Kevlar supporting its back. The device should sport a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 960 x 540p qHD. Recent reports also reveal that a tester model for this handset is equipped with a 1.5GHz processor, but the final version is more likely to carry a 1.2GHz dual-core chip.

According to Engadget, this version should probably end up on Verizon shelves by some other name. The story is further augmented by latest photos sporting a logo of the network carrier on its Kevlar coated body. Drop in the fact that the mobile phone manufacturer is sending out invitations for an event to be held on October 18 in New York City. Motorola has also released a teaser video, asking viewers to expect something ‘Faster. Thinner. Stronger. Smarter.’ on this occasion.

If the company decides to go by the hints it is dropping all along the way, fans may soon be able to lay hands on an LTE-enabled Motorola Spyder, which might don a fancy name like the Droid HD or Droid Razr. The event is also expected to unveil the much anticipated Motorola Xoom 2 tablet.
