Not too long ago we reported about Motorola’s popular Atrix smartphone heading over to the UK through Orange. Starting today, the mobile network operator has begun shipping the Motorola Atrix equipped with an innovative in-built biometric fingerprint reader.

The stylish Android-powered smartphone runs a 1GHz dual core processor and sports 1GB of RAM memory to deliver unrivaled performance. The featured fingerprint recognition technology permits owners to securely unlock their handsets with just a swipe of a finger. It shows off a 4″ qHD touchscreen display to proffer brighter clarity and an improved multimedia viewing experience.

“This really is the ultimate smart phone for gadget fans packed full of tech wizardry and features that any aspiring spy would be proud of. With its multimedia accessories and groundbreaking fingerprint swipe access, this is an innovative handset that Orange is proud to be bringing to the UK first,” commented Nicola Shenton, Head of Device Portfolio, Orange UK.

Orange is also offering additional accessories like the Motorola HD Multimedia Dock and Motorola Lapdock, which are sold separately. With the above stated HD multimedia dock, users can seamlessly hook up the device with any monitor or HDTV via an HDMI port. It also sports three USB ports for enabling connections to a keyboard, speakers, mouse and more. The ultra-light Motorola Lapdock features an 11.6″ screen, stereo speakers and full keyboard for transforming the Atrix into a fully functional laptop.

All Orange consumers can now opt for the Motorola Atrix for free on a £35 monthly plan, requiring them to sign a 24 month contract. This plan includes 750MB data usage, 600 voice minutes, unlimited texts, 50 multimedia messages and Wi-Fi connectivity per month.
