The new weatherproof Optrix wide-angle case for iPhone 4S and 4 turns the smartphone into a rugged sports camera for recording videos as well as uploading them to the web. Besides the latest generations of the iPhone, the covering will be made available for the iPod touch too.
The sleeve is currently seeking support from interested users at Kickstarter. It is capable of offering protection to the smartphone as it can withstand spills, splashes, drops and bumps that should make it an ideal companion on adventurous trips. Moreover, its lens with a wide-angle of 175 degrees, facilitates capturing panoramic images through the device’s camera.
“The Wide-Angle case is the second version of our popular HD Sport, allowing extreme sport enthusiasts to capture wider pictures and videos without worrying about the safety of their device. We are reaching out to the Kickstarter community by giving them the opportunity to experience the Optrix Wide-Angle before it is available anywhere else,” stated John Willenborg, founder of Optrix.
The cover features a soft touch iPhone sled for everyday use and its one-hand quick release function assists with adjusting shooting angles while clicking images. It ensures access to the phone’s screen that in turn allows users to play, edit and upload the recorded videos. And if that’s not enough, it is accompanied by accessories such as chest mount and other industrial base mounts.
The Optrix wide-angle case for iPhone will enter mass production if it manages to collect funds worth $125,000 before June 15. It can be pre-ordered for $49 onwards through Kickstarter.
