Oppo Find 5 price comes out, boasts 5-inch 1080p display, 13MP camera

The Oppo Find 5 price has come out and the sleek gadget sports a full HD screen in addition to bringing along a few other nifty features such as the Jelly Bean platform. For one, it takes a chunk out of the Droid DNA, going up against the HTC phone pound for pound. And the contender draws first blood.

Getting right to the device’s attributes, we see that it has a 5-inch IPS display capable of throwing out images and video in full HD at a resolution of 1080 x 1920p and a pixel density of 441ppi. The screen comes with OGS technology making touch more responsive and viewing clearer.

It is also extremely thin, sporting a 3.25mm bezel, and is more than twice as slim as the iPhone 5, which is 7.6mm thick. A quad core Qualcomm APQ8064 processor has been integrated into the device’s functioning and runs at 1.5GHz ensuring that games and other power-hungry tasks are handled without too much gasping for air. 2GB of RAM and 16GB of in-built storage find a place on the handset without any mention of memory expandability.

On the back it’s the same story. Although we’ve already seen a 41MP camera sensor in the Nokia 808 PureView, the Find 5 from Oppo sports a 13MP snapper, which is a considerably higher spec than what is fast-becoming an industry standard resolution for smartphones. It is built with Stacked CMOS technology and is well suited to capturing images in low light conditions. A 1.9MP secondary camera has also been provided on the front.

And the phone’s photography capabilities don’t end there. It brings to the table ‘hardware supported HDR photography and video recording,’ for recording video at 120fps. Playback is possible at normal speed or in slow motion while the company claims the handset can additionally deliver clear freeze-frames.

For audiophiles, the device also includes Dolby 3D surround sound and Dirac HD technology said to provide a clear audio difference and thoroughly immerse users in their music. There’s a 2500mAh lithium-ion battery built in, and while battery life is anyone’s guess at the moment, the addition of such a large power source in such a slim package does sound mouth-watering.

In terms of connectivity, those interested in the gadget will find 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and Wi-Fi Direct, in addition to compatibility with GSM and HSPA networks. Rounding off the impressive list of features is the support for Wi-Fi Display and DLNA which allow the screen’s contents to be wirelessly displayed on TV sets in HD.

The Oppo Find 5 will be made available for a price of $499, unlocked and contract-free. Although a release date hasn’t been mentioned, it will be compatible T-Mobile, AT&T and California-based Simple Mobile.
