Twitter for iPhone and Android updated, brings photo filters

Twitter for iPhone and Android has been updated and it has marched into the Apple App Store as well as Google Play with a range of photo filters. A post on the company’s official blog states that it has turned to Aviary to help kick off the newly introduced image effects.

So what has this partnership resulted into? Well for starters, people can now edit and refine their photos using the mobile app’s own set of editing options for free, before uploading it.

As of now, the updated version features eight filters. These include options right from the stereotypical black and white as well as vintage to a few fresh introductions such as gritty, cinematic and more. What makes this feature different from Instagram is that it provides a grid view wherein, a photo can be seen with the varying effects in the form of thumbnails.

Users can click on the preview to enlarge the picture and swipe to see it in the subsequent mood. Besides these, the upgraded edition of Twitter for iPhone and Android also includes an Auto-enhance option that intuitively adjusts the photos with just one tap.

To the right hand side of the filter icon is the crop option. For those who wish to chop off the unnecessary background, this attribute permits altering images to resize them into original or square forms. Users can upload every edited picture to the home timeline of their accounts.

A post in the official Aviary blog explains that these features have been designed to give variations to pictures that people wish to share. The post also makes it apparent that joining forces with the social networking site is just the company’s first step towards boosting the ‘photo editing experience’ of mobile and web apps.

Apart from the new updates, the software allows users to post their tweets on the go, follow anyone ranging from a friend to a celebrity or even start a new trend.

UI

Currently, this latest release by Twitter has been made available via the Google Play store for devices that run on the Android 2.1 OS or up. The upgraded edition can be downloaded for iOS gadgets as well, through the Apple App Store for free.
