NTT DoCoMo to release HT-03A phone as its first Android powered phone?

There has been a lot of Android news recently and it seems that the launch of Android 1.5 is provoking many mobile phone manufacturers to jump in the Android market. After Motorola, it now appears that NTT DoCoMo is planning to release the HT-03A Android powered phone in Japan, reports Akihabara News.

Reportedly, it will be the first Android based mobile phone launched in Japan. It is said that the HT-03A will run on the updated Android 1.5 operating system and will feature a touchscreen display.

Apparently, this smartphone will feature a 3.2 megapixel camera which should let users snap clear images while on the go. At present, whether the HT-03A will be a 3G GSM device or it will use NTT DoCoMo’s high speed FOMA W-CDMA network still remains unclear.

Not much of the features have been disclosed. However based on the looks, it seems to be none other than the HTC Magic smartphone. It is also reported that DoCoMo has a surprise for smartphone lovers which will be revealed in two weeks.

There is no word on its exact release date and price as yet.
