Dig Dug, the hugely popular arcade game, is now available on the iPhone and iPod touch as Dig Dug REMIX. Namco Networks today publicized the worldwide availability of Dig Dug REMIX for $5.99 through Apple’s App Store.
Dig Dug REMIX provides 256 levels of the original arcade game to players and a REMIX version loaded with features like boss battles and exciting power-up items. This game marks the return of the famous enemies “Pooka” and “Fygar”, as players dig through dirt while destroying the enemies using an air pump and rocks.
Jonathan Kromrey, general manager for Apple Games for Namco Networks commented, “Dig Dug fans can now play the original game they loved from the arcade as well as a supped-up version that’s packed with more pumping action and new power-ups,” He further added, “The iPhone control schemes are easy to master and players are going to love the new challenges in the hundreds of levels of digging goodness.”
In the REMIX version, players have right of entry to six different power-ups as they can play up to 35 levels and beat five bosses. The various power-ups include an improved shovel which improves digging speed. Then there is a drill which improves digging speed and ability to dig firm dirt. And finally they have a barrier balloon which blocks loss of life by a falling or stampeding rock.
The classic and REMIX versions include two control modes – D-pad and Flick. D-Pad provides players an on-screen control pad whereas Flick mode enables players to control the digging action by the process of swiping their finger across the screen. There exists three difficulty settings for the game. Players can also select either normal or free play that enables players to play previously cleared stages.
