Nokia unleashes Ovi browser beta for S40 devices

Ovi Browser Beta

Nokia S40 phone users can probably expect to seamlessly browse the web for downloading and enjoying multimedia content whenever they want. Nokia has announced the availability of its latest Ovi browser beta version through the Ovi Store for all S40 based mobile phones.

A post on the official Nokia blog states that the Ovi browser beta will make the experience of browsing the web a quicker and more enjoyable one on S40 handsets. The browser sports a new colorful look and provides users with a variety of popular links which are specific to their countries.

These links offer instant access to the hugely popular websites like Yahoo, Amazon, IMDB and Twitter among others. This updated beta version also supports over 85 varied languages. It presently features localized start pages for countries such as Indonesia, India, China and Russia.

Users in other parts of the world will be provided with internationally popular sites linked to their start page. The S40 browser includes a proxy server which employs the remote server to pre-process the pages so that they can be accommodated on smaller screens. This further decreases the data rate for page loads by approximately 90%.

S40-powered phone owners can download the free Ovi browser beta via the Ovi Store website.
