Nokia RX-114 Windows RT tablet specifications leaked via GFXBench

Nokia is said to be working on a tablet going by the RX-114 moniker. Speculations about the Finnish manufacturer attempting to keep its head above water by getting into the phablet or tablet game have been going around for quite some time now. The latest ‘evidence’ which comes from benchmarking site, GFXBench, offers some relief to fans who’ve been keeping their eyes peeled for anything in terms of specifications.

But before diving into the story, let’s not forget that an RX-108 was spotted by Adduplex previously. This has been pointed out by the NokiaPowerUser post which talks about the specs surfaced via GFXBench. So we’re either looking at a pair of tablets in the making or two new lessons on the art of faking. Accordingly, the RX-114 may feature a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset with graphics supported by the Adreno 330 GPU.

Microsoft Surface RT

The tablet is depicted to host a screen coughing up visuals in a resolution of 1371 x 771p. As noted by the benchmarking website we’ve mentioned above, the Surface RT and Pro sport a similar resolution. Which brings us to the question of why Nokia would be bothering with a tablet running Windows 8 when the dismal sales of the Microsoft-branded slate is enough of a ‘Keep Away’ sign. The mobile manufacturer is touted to be betting on the Windows 8.1 RTM software with this rumored release.

There’s not much to be going on with apart from the scant specifications that have been leaked. If the Nokia RX-114 is indeed set to arrive with Windows 8.1 RTM, it may be unveiled in late August or early September. And we’re assuming the company will christen it a more palatable name upon launch.
