Next generation Amazon Kindle Fire HD specs trickle out

Rumor has it that the next-generation Amazon Kindle Fire HD is currently in the works and if what we hear is true, it could give a number of slates in the market a run for their money. It seems that Amazon has also been contemplating an updated version of the original tablet, apart from the HD versions.

Beginning with the 7-inch next-gen Amazon Kindle Fire HD, the tablet will now tout a 1,920 x 1,200p touch display instead of a screen spewing visuals at a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. The 8.9-inch slab on the other hand, is said to have replaced its 1,920 x 1,200p panel with a 2,560 x 1,600p resolution-toting one.

Not many of the tablets’ facets differ from each other apart from those mentioned above. For instance, both are expected to run version 4.2.2 of Android Jelly Bean and individually come with a webcam. Speaking of cameras, those opting for the larger gadget will benefit from a rear-mounted 8MP shooter.

It may please interested folks to know that the e-retailer could’ve added a new model with higher storage space of 64GB, besides the conventional 16GB and 32GB units. Also, it comes as a pleasant surprise that a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2GHz and coupled with 2GB of RAM, might be destined for the devices.

A post on BGR has stated that the next-generation Kindle Fire HD tablets will also be made available in Wi-Fi and cellular variants, while revealing that the company is trying not to stray too far from the current price points. The slates will most likely spring up this fall, it added.
