September is deemed to be a great month for Switzerland with the arrival of the N9 smartphone unleashing its Linux-based MeeGo operating system. The much to offer device is still pending a public release and it appears that Switzerland alone some other countries may be the first to experience its presence.

The ‘first ever pure touch phone’ as stated by Nokia is currently focusing all attention towards its release. Aimed to hit Switzerland soon, the device will feature swipe gestures to access different functions and options. Equipped with a 3.9-inch curved glass AMOLED display, the handset is created out of polycarbonate material which enables superior antenna performance.

With no button whatsoever, users need to master the gesture techniques to get the best experience from the device. Along with its three home screens namely the application screen, events screen and the open application screen, the handset packs in a super fast web browser built on the latest Webkit 2 technology. Additionally, the N9 comes with HD video capture capabilities along with the 8MP camera , Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash and auto focus,.

Abandoning the MeeGo platform, the N9 mobile phone is suspected to be the final release to run this OS from Nokia. Although, the company will continue support for its device and not leave it in the dark.

According to the Orange Switzerland website, the device is currently stated as an upcoming product and is expected to be available from September 15. At present, no details on pricing are provided by Orange.
