Nokia N9 smartphone finally begins shipping

Nokia N9

After showcasing itself to the world in June this year, the Nokia N9 impressed people enough to have many rumors generated about its official availability. The handset was supposed to make its debut in Switzerland through Orange and was set to retail in Australia from next month. However the wait seems to be over as Nokia has finally announced that it has started shipping the N9 smartphone.

The stylish device equips a 3.9-inch AMOLED screen crafted from scratch-resistant curved glass along with an intuitive user interface which can be controlled with a simple swipe. One of the many highlights of this smartphone is its 8MP Carl Zeiss camera with autofocus sensor and wide-angle lens which capture videos and photos in HD. It does not feature a main key, giving more space to apps on the screen and three home views namely, apps, events and live applications. They allow users to navigate with ease and access content at a faster rate.

Ilari Nurmi, Vice President of Marketing, Nokia stated, “Since we announced the Nokia N9 in June this year, the feedback that it has gotten from discerning and avid smartphone users across the world has been nothing short of fantastic. With the innovations in industrial design, user interface, and the Qt developer experience, the Nokia N9 sets the bar for how natural technology can feel, and represents the first in a number of products from Nokia that will be brought to life in similar fashion.”

The handset allows single-tap pairing with NFC-enabled accessories and sharing of content through the NFC technology. It incorporates turn-by-turn drive and walk navigation with voice-guided maps for over 100 countries, in more than 50 languages. The attractive N9 is available in three colors namely, black, cyan and magenta with 16GB and 64GB storage options.

The Nokia N9 is priced at around EUR 480 and EUR 560 for the 16GB and 64GB models respectively. The price is exclusive of applicable taxes or subsidies and may vary according to different regions and operators.
