Nokia Messaging service launched exclusively for select Orange Signature handsets

Nokia and Orange logo Orange and Nokia have strengthened their partnership with the launch of a new and simple-to-use email service. It is aimed at bringing mobile email to everyone and will be available on select Orange Signature handsets. The two companies had earlier signed a three-year agreement in order to offer multimedia mobile content to customers.

With this email service, Orange customers can accumulate and manage multiple email accounts, it lets them access upto 10 email accounts. The service will also allow users to read and reply to emails, read attachments, view subfolders and attach files to emails.

Olaf Swantee, Senior EVP of Orange’s global mobile business, states, “It was only a few weeks ago that we announced our strategy to make mobile multimedia a mass market phenomenon. This extension to our partnership with Nokia shows how serious we are about bringing mobile multimedia to every customer. With our leadership in innovation, proven expertise in convergence across our fixed, mobile and broadband networks and knowledge of our customers, we think this offer will help increase consumer appetite for mobile email.”

Nokia and Orange will offer this service to eight countries and it supports 30 Nokia phones in the Orange Signature range in 2009 including the Nokia E75. Initially, the service will be launched in the UK and later in France and Spain.

The Nokia messaging service will be launched in several major markets in 2009 with bundling, pricing and attractive tariffs across the Orange footprint.
