At the Nokia Lumia 610 India launch event held in Delhi today, the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer, in addition to the aforementioned smartphone, also took the lid off the limited edition Batman Nokia Lumia 800. The 610 runs on Windows Phone 7.5 and features a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen while including GPS, Wi-Fi tethering and Play To.
A 5MP sensor plays the role of the main camera, bringing in 2592 x 1944 resolution with 4x digital zoom while offering auto focus and LED flash. A single Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor running at 800MHz takes care of operations, but users will have to make do with 256MB of RAM and 8GB mass memory as there is no microSD card slot, although SkyDrive cloud storage is available.
“The Nokia Lumia 610 will introduce Windows Phone to a new generation of smartphone users, offering something very different to the monochromatic smartphones filling shelves today,” said Vipul Mehrotra, Director-Smart Devices, Nokia India. “It is designed to appeal to a more youthful audience purchasing their first smartphone and motivated by the opportunity to keep in touch with friends, family and all the latest information.”
A suite of ‘experiences’ including Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive and Nokia Transport will come preloaded in the device, but those who want even more will have over 100,000 apps to choose from on the Windows Marketplace. Signature experiences on the Lumia 610 would encompass Mix Radio and Camera Extras.
Besides the Lumia 610, the launch event also covered a collector’s edition phone in the luminous range. The Dark Knight Rises Lumia 800 will sport a laser-etched Batman logo and have an exclusive for Lumia DKR app. Meanwhile, thanks to a tie-up between the hardware manufacturer and Warner Bros., Nokia Lumia owners will get the opportunity to enjoy exclusive content from the upcoming Batman movie including trailers.
The Nokia Lumia 610 India price is marked at Rs. 12,999. It will be available in stores across the country starting tomorrow, July 7, 2012. The Batman Nokia Lumia 800 is scheduled to arrive in mid-July for a price of Rs. 24,999. There will only be 200 units of this limited collector’s edition exclusively for Indian consumers.
