Nokia EOS Windows Phone rumored to house 808 PureView-like sensor

Rumor has it that the Nokia EOS Windows Phone may be on the cards for the company and if we were to believe the latest word on the street, this is apparently going to be the first ‘true’ PureView handset driven by Microsoft’s mobile OS. It could be a while before the gadget’s existence is confirmed. Until then, we may have to rely on the tidbit that it might just surface initially through AT&T.

Except that it has currently been codenamed EOS, there are many details still to be unveiled. Bearing in mind that this is an initiative from the Finnish manufacturer and the Windows Phone OS seems to be in the picture too, it could mean we are advancing towards a new design trend for the Lumia series. At least the folks over at The Verge seem to think so.

Even though the PureView technology can be found in a few of the company’s other products such as the Lumia 920, the supposed handset holds onto a lens which is similar to that of the Symbian-fueled 808. The sensor is considered to be more powerful as compared to the one found in the OEM’s flagship smartphone and it could contribute towards the handset getting pinned as a high-end Lumia.

Another piece of gossip which has slipped out is that the phone will not be built with polycarbonate material like Lumia devices seen in the past. In fact, Nokia presumably has plans to endow the rumored handset with an aluminum chassis. It has also been brought to our attention that there are chances the gadget’s edges will be overhauled to flaunt a squared look.

Some buzz in the vicinity states that the manufacturer will be expanding its lineup with a couple of additional devices. For instance, the report on the web site remarks that a certain smartphone dubbed the Catwalk, should be gliding into stores this summer. Apparently, it will carry a mid-range label and be a preferred option over the Lumia 920. Fans could also expect a tablet running the Windows RT OS in the early months of this year.

A price or release date for the Nokia EOS Windows Phone employing the PureView technology seems farfetched for now, seeing as the OEM has to confirm this news yet. We’re pegging our hopes for at least a hint to spill out during the MWC 2013.
