A tidbit that could cheer up those waiting patiently for the new generation Symbian mobile platform is that the Nokia Belle update has finally started rolling out. This announcement was made on the Nokia Conversations blog which states that the upgrade is now available for download to users of the Nokia N8, E7, E6, X7, C6-01, C7 and Oro.

The latest version of Symbian was announced in August last year, along with four smartphones dubbed the Nokia 700, 600, 603 and 701. The software update will also be available for download to users of the Nokia 500 mobile phone within the coming few weeks.

Two months ago, the Finnish OEM had revealed the upcoming arrival of this mobile platform and it has stuck true to its word. Although the OS was launched as Symbian Belle, it was renamed to Nokia Belle in December last year. An improved version of its predecessor, Symbian Anna, this software provides users with access to six homescreens for enabling the incorporation of more apps and widgets.

Belle packs in various fresh features which include imaging applications with HD video shooting at 30 frames per second, simplified menus and an enhanced browser that claims to facilitate high quality surfing and viewing of web videos. Users can access key settings, tools or features in a quicker and easier manner owing to the addition of a new notifications bar. Furthermore, Nokia smartphone wielders would be able to gain access to a suite of free Microsoft Apps like OneNote and Lync.

Owners of the mentioned phones can now avail of the Nokia Belle update as soon as they receive a notification on their handset. For downloading the upgrade, users would have to connect the smartphone to a PC and if further guidance is needed, then they can refer to the step-by-step download tutorial available on Nokia’s website.
