Nokia Asha 501 rumored to be launched on May 9 in Delhi

Nokia has been sending out invitations for its upcoming event in Delhi and various reports have speculated that the Finnish company will probably introduce the Asha 501 formally. From what can be gathered, the launch is meant to take place next Thursday – May 9 to be accurate.

Seen below is a snapshot of the invite that is being distributed by the company. Apart from flashing a ‘Time To Shift Gears’ tag line, the image doesn’t let out any information pertaining to the handset which the manufacturer plans to unleash. Apparently, the folks handing out the invitations are the same people who look after the series in question, which renders credentials to our belief.

As rumor has it, the imminent phone will tilt more toward the high-end category, offering an enhanced design and packing better components as compared to devices generally seen in this portfolio. This could be a much welcomed development considering that the category as known to many, aims at consumers from emerging economies.

Now this isn’t the only occasion which the OEM has been prepping up for. It has been in the news for some time now that the manufacturer has been planning a larger-scale event to broadcast the next generation smartphone from its Lumia series.

Slated to be held in London on May 14, this conference will supposedly be orchestrated to disclose the existence of the Catwalk. Not much is known about the phone, barring the rumors that state it to be a Lumia 920 avatar, except with a mid-range tag. It had been estimated to arrive with the Laser which also takes a chunk from the company’s flagship, but will be dedicated to Verizon.

Picking up from where we left, the folks over at BGR have given their own insights saying that Gears in the OEM’s accessories department, which could indicate that the event may revolve around that as well. But they go on to contradict their own statement mentioning it to be an unlikely situation for the company to invite journalists for a global launch of accessories.

Nevertheless, be it Nokia 501 or not, we plan to render additional details when they spring up. And we believe that with a week to go, there will be more to share regarding the forthcoming conference. So stay tuned to this space.
