The Nokia Asha 501 which has laid the foundation of a new platform in the series is up for pre-order in India and has been spotted on the company’s official e-store pegged at Rs 5,199. People who have grown weary of the conventional shades of black and white might be pleased to learn that Nokia has brought it to the fore in all hues, except green, that it had earlier promised to offer.
As we were saying, the fresh platform introduced through the gadget, has led to the phone touting two main screens. For those who are unfamiliar with this development, the first is known as Home which is more of the traditional interface dominated by icons for mundane tasks like calling or changing the device’s settings. On the other hand, Fastlane adjusts as per owners’ usage history and displays forthcoming events as well. Its integration with social networks like Facebook and Twitter should permit users to upload posts right from the homescreen.
Even though the Nokia Asha 501 targets those who have warmed up to the idea of low-budget devices, it is said to have taken a few tips from the high-end Lumia series in terms of design. A 3-inch LCD touch display is what initially greets people and understandably there is no secondary camera sharing space with it. But a 3.2MP main snapper featuring 3x digital zoom resides on the flip side.
When the Finnish manufacturer first spoke about the handset, it also highlighted the qualities of the inbuilt 1,200mAh battery which should ideally render up to 48 days of standby. As far as the other operation time caps are concerned, users can expect roughly 7 hours of talk time or 56 hours of music playback time. A flash storage space of 64MB may seem a bit too low for some. This is why the phone not only allows expanding the space by up to 32GB, but also tags along a 4GB microSD card when bought through the e-store.
Just like the official outlet, Flipkart, HomeShop 18, Infibeam and other such retailers have listed the Asha 501 on their respective web portals, for a price of Rs 5,199.
