Nokia Amber to bring Bluetooth 4.0 to Lumia 720, 620 and 520

Very soon, the Lumia 720, 620 and 520 will be receiving the Nokia Amber update and the Finnish manufacturer has confirmed that it will tag along Bluetooth 4.0 support. We have learnt that Nokia is planning to roll out the said software sometime next month.

At an event held in Hong Kong, the OEM let out details about its upcoming software update, Nokia Amber to the guys over at Blogjackphone.com, reports WMPoweruser. It has been revealed that some of the devices belonging to the second generation of the Lumia series will be the fortunate ones to be deployed with Bluetooth Low Energy.

Bluetooth 4 For Nokia Lumia

The version of Bluetooth in question is basically required for connecting the handheld gadget to a horde of devices and accessories. These include temperature sensors, heart rate monitors and even a number of other fitness monitors such as Fitbits amongst others. All of the Lumia smartphones currently available in the market boast of Bluetooth 3.0.

While the aforementioned article mentions that the three lower-end phones will be blessed with support for the latest version of Bluetooth, it is clueless about whether the other handsets such as the 820, 920 and the recently-unveiled 925 will be receiving it or not. Nevertheless, the flagship 920 will get its fair share of improvements that is inclusive of a longer battery life.

Users will also notice that pictures on the 920 will appear even sharper and are not likely to lose their sharpness even when users zoom in, once the smartphone is updated. Apart from enhancing the color temperature of images, the software will bring better focusing times to the table as well. It is also expected to drag along FM radio support to Lumia devices which are currently unable to access it.

Nokia Amber update featuring the Bluetooth Low Energy support is slated to be beamed on to Lumia devices in August this year. The Windows Phone 8.1 upgrade is in the pipeline too.
