Nikon Coolpix camera range in India gets a spring refresher

Yesterday saw Nikon unveiling a flurry of new Coolpix cameras – seventeen to be exact – in India, while also revealing their price details. Calling the new lineup its Spring Series, the company has boasted that a total of 22 models now rest within the said point-and-shoot segment.

At a launch event in New Delhi which was also graced by brand ambassador and Bollywood starlet, Priyanka Chopra, the new products were showcased to the press. Moreover, a fresh TV commercial was also unveiled, marking the start of the Tokyo-based manufacturer’s fresh marketing campaign in the country.

Headlining the array of new Nikon Coolpix camera in India , is the A model which, interestingly, comes equipped with a DX-format CMOS sensor, making it comparable to digital SLR snappers. For capturing of images and videos, it depends upon its wide-angle 18.5mm, f/2.8 fixed focal length Nikkor lens.

Next in line are the P-series models – the P520 and the P330. A high-power zoom lens has been granted to the P520, facilitating 42x optical zoom and super-telephoto shooting that stands to be the equivalent of a 1000mm focal length. The P330 on the other hand, bears an effective pixel count of 12.2 million pixels as well as a 1/1.7-in. backside illumination CMOS sensor.

Nine new models enter the S series which contains cameras modeled with slim designs and simpler functionalities. The S9500, S9400, S6500, S5200, S4400, S3500, S3400, S2700 and S31 snappers, have been granted functions that include Wi-Fi compatibility and built-in GPS.

And then there’s the L-Series which has 4 fresh models boasting features such as ultra-high power optical zoom, automatic shooting options and more. Last we have a new entrant into the AW series in the form of the AW110. Described as an outdoor camera, it is a waterproof and shock-proof device bearing such traits as Wi-Fi, built-in GPS and World map.

Coming to their retail values, the Nikon Coolpix A, at Rs. 54,950, is the most expensive among the lot. The P-series models will be selling between the ranges of Rs. 16,950 to Rs. 24,950, while the S-series cameras will be set between Rs. 5,950 and Rs. 18,950. The range of Rs. 4,990 to Rs. 15,450 applies to the L-series, and Rs. 16,950 is the value of the AW110.
