There’s a ‘small’ surprise for the Indian smartphone market and it goes by the name Gionee Elife E7 mini. That’s right, along with the Rs 26,999 Elife E7, the company is also presenting fans across India with a cheaper alternative. The mini handset costs Rs 18,999 and sports a less Lumia-ish appearance as compared to its better specced cousin.
Not that it can help this design diversion – the portion above the screen is taking up by a swivel camera similar to the one on the Oppo N1. This 13MP snapper swings to the front in case you want to chat with someone over the web or take a selfie. It also rotates to the back in order to fulfill regular photography needs.
The camera has a flash unit supporting it too and it can take videos in up to 1080p resolution. For some strange reason, Gionee hasn’t included the Elife E7 mini in the presser talking about the Elife E7, nor has it hoisted a product page for it. The pictures and video we’ve added to this post are proof of its existence though.
The smartphone has a 4.7-inch IPS display which offers 1280 x 720p visuals. It runs on Android Jelly Bean seasoned with the company’s Amigo user interface. The much talked about 1.7GHz 8-core MediaTek MT6592 chipset powers the device and the graphics are handled by the accompanying Mali 450-MP4 GPU.
It’s a pity there’s only 1GB of RAM under the hood. You can also expect 16GB of onboard hoarding space to store all those games, apps, music, movies and what not. There’s no mention of a microSD card slot. Lastly, you can slip two SIMs into the phone if you please.
As FoneArena reports, the Gionee Elife E7 mini will start rolling into the Indian market in January 2014.
