New version of TomTom app hits Apple App Store

TomTom New Version TomTom releases the new version of its TomTom app. Existing iPhone users can now upgrade their TomTom app to the version 1.2 for free. It comes with several additional features that elevate the user experience. To provide crystal clarity to drivers while navigating through critical junctions, the new version offers the Advanced Lane Guidance. TomTom claims that this feature is available in both landscape and portrait modes for the first time.

The Text-to-speech feature of the new version is quite beneficial as it helps drivers to keep their eyes on the road, eliminating the need to look at their devices every time. As a part of spoken instructions, street names and place names are read out aloud for the driver’s convenience.

“Our latest update adds the most highly anticipated advanced features to the TomTom app. These major enhancements and new features will be a great complement to its easy-to-use and intuitive interface, turn-by-turn spoken navigation and unique routing technology,” said Benoit Simeray, TomTom’s senior vice president, on-board mobile. “We’re also pleased to be able to offer this major update to existing TomTom app for iPhone customers for free.”

Integrated with a help menu, the app permits easy access to emergency numbers as well as directions to emergency providers available in the vicinity. The TomTom version 1.2 app also incorporates updated maps of the US and Canada with the latest Tele Atlas maps.

Users can download continental and regional versions of the TomTom application for iPhone, iPhone 3G and 3GS, created by Apple, from the official TomTom website. The TomTom app for the iPhone with the US and Canada maps can be purchased for $99.99.
