New leak says Motorola Moto G gen 3 has IPx7 water resistance

As next week’s global media event for announcing the Motorola Moto G (Gen 3) approaches closer, we’ve learnt quite a bit about the phone through a series of leaks. The newest one suggests the handset may be equipped with water resistance.

Specifically, it may have IPx7 certification, which means the Motorola Moto G (Gen 3) might be able to survive up to 1 meter of submergence underwater for 30 minutes. The company has hinted as much on its twitter page, with posts centred on the theme of friendships and water.

The new leak comes from MobileSyrup, who have images of dummy models of the new Motorola handset. They have the phone’s specifications listed on them since they’re supposed to be placed in shops. Most of the specs revealed were known earlier and these photos confirm those speculations.

Other details known about the smartphone from earlier leaks suggest it will contain Android Lollipop 5.1, 1GB or 2GB of RAM, a 720p 5-inch display and 8GB or 16GB of internal storage. Motorola may start selling the device at around 199 euros (approximately Rs 13700), according to a FoneArena report about a Spanish retailer’s recent listing.

The company has been hinting at a rugged version of the Motorola Moto G (Gen 3) on its twitter page. It may also be planning to introduce its Moto Maker service to India, which will allow customers to customize their handset before buying it.
