New BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphone latest addition to Telus family

Telus BlackBerry Pearl 3GThe BlackBerry Pearl claims to have warmed up to a large number of mobile enthusiasts in Canada. A 3G version of this smartphone is now underway. Telus is all set to offer the new BlackBerry Pearl 3G smartphone this May. Also the phone drenched in pink is exclusively being unveiled by the network carrier.

The powerful and compact device appears to be really diminutive. Measuring less than two inches in width, the phone tips the scale at only 3.3 ounces. Despites its tiny size, it wraps in support for a whole load of interesting functions. This includes high-speed 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) networks, Wi-Fi (b/g/n) and GPS support. Fueled by a robust 624Mhz processor, the phone steers visual excellence to its 360×400 sharp-resolution display.

Sporting an optical trackpad for smooth navigation, the phone is infused with a dedicated volume and media keys as well. There’s also a 3.2 MP camera with flash as also support for up to 16GB of personal content with the microSD/SDHD memory card slot. Keeping to the BlackBerry lineage, the phone offers advanced email, instant messaging, and social networking. Ina candy bar form factor, this elegant handset sports dimensions of 4.25″ x 1.96″ x 0.52″.

Incorporated with 20-key condensed keyboard bundled with the SureType software, words are completed as users key them in. Housing 256MB Flash memory, the media player allows videos, pictures and music along with dedicated media keys integrated along the top of the handset. Boasting of built-in GPS for location-based applications and geotagging, the phone also includes voice activated dialing, speakerphone and Bluetooth 2.1.

Offering access to BlackBerry App World, users gain access to a broad and increasing catalog of mobile applications fashioned specifically for BlackBerry smartphones. Support for BlackBerry Media Sync and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks, the phone is based on BlackBerry OS 5. The phone is powered by a removable, rechargeable 1150mAhr battery that delivers up to 5.5 hours of talk time on 3G networks.

The new BlackBerry Pearl 3G will be available in May 2010 from Telus for as little as $29.99 on a three-year plan. The phone is dressed in pink and in black.
