Netmagic launches Mumbai’s largest data center

Netmagic, a subsidiary of Japan-based NTT Communications, has opened its 9th data center in Mumbai, which it claims is the city’s largest. The facility is one of the biggest operating hubs in India, covering an area of 300000sqft.

Mumbai’s Data Center 5 plays host to over 2700 racks. The space further has access to 20MW of power and cooling services. Customers can utilize a range of Nextmagic offerings such as Cloud Computing, Disaster Recovery, IT Infrastructure Monitoring and Management, Managed App Hosting, Managed Security, Managed Co-location, and Dedicated Hosting.

Netmagic has launched the facility under its Nexcenter brand of data centers and guarantees a 99.99% availability of its services at all times. The company has also introduced some new additions to its product portfolio namely Virtual Load Balancer as a Service, Virtual Private Cloud and Next-Gen Backup and Archival Services. It boasts of a refined network fabric, based on Spine Leaf Architecture.

Data Center 5 supplies its services with the support of 4 distinct carrier neutral fiber paths, which allows for reliable network connectivity sourced from all major providers. Underneath the premises, 4 underground tanks filled with 200000l of diesel can be used in case of emergencies. The tanks back up gensets that are supposed to guarantee 48 hours of uninterrupted power.

President and CEO of NTT Communications Tetsuya Shoji stated the new facility aims to capitalize on the new trend of businesses shifting their on-premise system to the cloud. Sharad Sanghi, Netmagic MD and CEO, thinks the platform is suited for both established enterprises and start-ups. With the addition of Data Center 5, the company now commands a floor space of 600000sqft across India.
