iOS users relying heavily on Navigons’s MobileNavigator app to steer their way safely on unfamiliar roads have some good news in store for them. Navigon recently announced the launch of the eighth version of its MobileNavigator app for Apple’s iPhone.

The new flavor of this app will now include Reality Scanner, a feature that aids in easy identification of bearby destinations supplemented with an enhanced reality view. It also incorporates safety camera alerts as an In App Purchase, for providing static speed as well as red light cameras along the route to evade costly tickets. Detailed traffic conditions are presented via an easy to read graphic traffic gage.

“In its eighth version, MobileNavigator delivered over 30 new features since our launch almost two years ago, helping drivers navigate stress-free through even some of the most challenging situations on the road,” shared Gerhard Mayr, vice-president worldwide mobile phone business, Navigon.

“MobileNavigator not only provides accurate directions but acts as a travel assistant with many industry first features. The new Reality Scanner function provides an innovative way of displaying points of interest close-by. Instead of showing them on the map, the feature projects them onto a real-time camera view,” continued Mayr.

The eighth version of this app features the latest maps by Navteq to transform the iPad 3G or iPhone into a functional navigation device. MobileNavigator proffers several attributes such as spoken directions, traffic rerouting, lane assistance, parking options and weather information amongst others. As the Navteq maps are stored on the phone, the app remains fully functional even in areas without a wireless or cell signal.

Close on the heels of the update, the official prices of MobileNavigator apps and In App Purchase will stay slashed by up to $15 through April 28. The promotional rates of the app in North America, U.S.A. and Canada are $44.99, $34.99 and $34.99, respectively.
