Keeping up with the new Android 4.0 tablets present in the market, the Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi has now been updated with the Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The company states that this OS upgrade will result in better resizable widgets, more versatile imaging capabilities, a redesigned app launcher and speedier rendering.

The updated Xoom Wi-Fi tablet would allow users to input text with their voice. The Data Manager feature will enable the smooth management of network data usage while contacts would be replaced by a new ‘People’ application. The Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is also expected to facilitate seamless integration with social networking websites such as Google+, Facebook, Twitter and others as well as offer a revamped Gallery app with the photo editor.

Previously running on the Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS, this Wi-Fi version of the Xoom tablet comes embedded with a 2MP front facing camera and a 5MP rear facing snapper featuring autofocus, digital zoom and dual LED flash. Powered by a 1GHz dual core processor, it boasts of a 10.1-inch WXGA 1280 x 800p touchscreen display and is equipped with 32GB of internal memory.

The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS update has already begun rolling out in phases for Motorola Xoom Wi-Fi tablets. It will be available to all slates within the next few weeks. Users can expect a notification for download when they receive the over the air upgrade.
