Motorola Phone ICS

Fans can expect ICS to grace their Motorola devices soon enough, as the company has let out some software upgrade information on its official blog. As previously announced, the Droid 4, Droid Razr, Droid Bionic, Droid Razr Maxx, Droid Xyboard 8.2 and 10.1 as well as the Motorola Xoom WiFi + 3G and 4G will receive the Android 4.0 update.

The exact release date and time will be let loose in the days to come. Also, it’s been noted that certain devices are not receiving ICS for their phones. The company has stated that its main objective of bringing in a new version of the software is to enhance the functionality of the gadgets in question. If there seem to be no benefits of the upgrade, it might not be rolled on to the respective devices.

The first phase namely, evaluation and planning will involve weighing the pros and cons of the new version. The second step is when the upgrade is being worked on and a probable date for availability can be released. Thirdly, the software is tested to see if it really does improve the experience with the respective handset. Finally, the upgrade is made available once the concerned carrier and local regulators approve of it. Users will receive a notification on their devices for an OTA update.

Motorola is currently negotiating with Google and relevant network providers in order to be able to provide the exact ICS upgrade release date for its devices.
