Verizon Wireless has brought in a pleasant surprise for fans this month by announcing the new Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 and 8.2 tablets. Currently operating on the Honeycomb OS, the company promises an Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Both Xyboards will be released in 16GB and 32GB versions, while the 10.1 model will also be seen in a 64GB option. As the names of the Xyboard 10.1 and 8.2 suggest, these slates sport screens of 10.1 inches and 8.2 inches, respectively. The high definition IPS displays of the devices are securely covered with scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass coated with a layer of nanoparticles, which makes them water repellent. Additionally, the touchscreen of the 10.1 is compatible with a stylus that is included in the package.

Each of the slates are adorned with a 5MP and a 1.3MP camera on the rear and front, respectively. The inclusion of the Dijit app in the Wi-Fi certified tabs transforms them into universal remotes as well.

The Motorola Droid Xyboard 8.2 prices for the 16GB and 32GB versions are $429.99 and $529.99, correspondingly. On the other hand, the Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 prices for models of the same memory capacities are $529.99 and $629.99, respectively. The 64GB variant can be picked up for $729.99. The gadgets will require new two-year user agreements.
