Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich roll-out begins

The long awaited Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich update has finally started its tour with upgraded functionality and a handful of new features to look forward to. But that’s not all; the company has plans to update its 2011 and 2012 portfolios to the Jelly Bean platform and who knows, the handset in question could also be amongst the lot to receive the upgrade.

So what is it that owners can expect from the upcoming roll out? The phone’s home screen will now include a Launch Bar that is customizable by simply dragging and dropping applications, shortcuts and folders for quick access. Plus, users will be able employ the camera and send texts directly through the lock screen. Interestingly, the update will allow customers to create folders by placing one app over the other and naming them.

The Recent Apps feature will provide a history of all the tools accessed of late, through which users will be able to switch between applications. Also, the notifications window will provide access to the settings menu and offer fresh swipe to dismiss functions for each alert. For those concerned about high data charges, the update will enable customers to set up warning levels and monitor the usage of each app. Upgrades for applications, email and messaging bug fixes as well as stability and performance enhancements are also included.

Going by the story, owners of this particular handset can expect to receive the Motorola Droid Bionic Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade sometime soon.
