4th generation iPad with Retina display price steps out silently

Following its surprise unveiling at the October 23 Apple event, the 4th generation iPad with Retina display price has popped up along with of course, the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the iPad Mini. And for those who are eager to know what its specifications are, here’s what this tablet has to offer.

Just like its earlier counterpart, the slate brings a 9.7-inch Retina display as one of its main highlights. Running the latest iOS 6 operation system, it also packs in the company-designed A6X processor that’s said to double the CPU performance and offer twice the graphics delivered by the earlier A5X chipset. The Lightning connector which we’ve spotted on the new iPad Mini, the iPhone 5 and the recent iPods, will be seen on this device as well.

Users will have Wi-Fi connectivity for accessing data in addition to 4G LTE for better web browsing speeds. Plus, there’s a FaceTime HD webcam for video conferencing while on the move. For those concerned about their tablet’s battery life, this device is capable of delivering up to 10 hours of run time on a single complete charge. Apple Smart covers and cases as well as a few accessories that support the Lightning connector will be made available soon.

The slate will be available in two variants, namely a Wi-Fi model and a Wi-Fi plus cellular version and both will be up for pre-order on October 26 through the company’s online store in a number of countries including the US, Canada, Australia, Germany and Hong Kong. Buyers will be able to opt between 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory options and pick up the device dipped in shades of either black or white.

The price for the Wi-Fi only 4th generation iPad stands at $329 for the 16GB version, $429 for the 32GB variant and $529 for the 64GB one. On the other hand, the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB Wi-Fi + cellular versions cost $629, $729, $829, respectively via AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. The Wi-Fi only model will be available for purchase starting November 2, while the other will commence shipping a few weeks after the plain Wi-Fi variant hits stores.
