Motorola Defy XT and Electrify 2 smartphones hit U.S. Cellular

Motorola ICS Device

Interested buyers aiming to tie up with U.S. Cellular have the Motorola Defy XT and Electrify 2 to consider. The former handset has already hit the official site and store shelves, while the latter is expected to ship on August 3, that’s tomorrow.

The Electrify 2 serves ICS right out of the box. It sports an 8.4mm thick profile made of Kevlar fiber and houses an invisible splash guard for added durability. Its front panel is dominated by a 4.3-inch ColorBoost display that is said to render decent multimedia and web browsing experiences. Apart from a 1080p HD camcorder, an 8MP snapper with LED flash graces the phone’s exterior. Like many other Motorola devices, it drags along Smartactions for automating everyday activities.

“Customers who purchase Motorola Electrify 2 or Defy XT will not only enjoy a new cutting-edge Android-powered smartphone, but will also get the best customer experience. A mobile phone should make life simpler and easier to get things done and U.S. Cellular believes the customer relationship with their wireless carrier should be the same,” remarked Edward Perez, vice president of sales and marketing operations for U.S. Cellular.

Motorola Gingerbread Phone

The second entrant, the Defy XT, is a Gingerbread smartphone that is said to be dust-, scratch- and water-resistant. It deploys a 3.7-inch touchscreen on the front panel, while the flip side is replete with a 5MP snapper. Let’s not forget, there’s a front-facing sensor for video conferencing over the web. Needless to say, a host of applications from Google Play are ready at hand.

The Motorola Electrify 2 U.S. Cellular is currently shipping at $179.99, post a $100 mail-in rebate. We’ll just have to wait for the same details on the Defy XT.
