Motorola Debuts New Razr+ And Razr Handsets With High-End Specs

Motorola Razr+

Motorola has reinvigorated the foldable phones market with the launch of its new Razr+ and Razr handsets for 2023. The devices are a worthy upgrade to 2022’s Razr phone, as they feature an updated design and much better specs.

The premium one among them, the Razr+, distinguishes itself by offering a 3.6-inch pOLED cover screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. Apart from giving quick access to notifications, music controls, etc., this outer display even lets you run full apps without opening the device.

Speaking of opening the phone, it’s made possible by an improved hinge mechanism that makes it the slimmest foldable phone on the market when folded. On its inside, the Razr+ hides a folding 6.9-inch AMOLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate.

Motorola has blessed it with a 4nm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and a 3800mAh battery with 30W wired and 5W wireless charging support. Moreover, the phone ships with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, though, a model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage exists internationally.

The dual camera system on the back of the Motorola Razr+ includes a 12MP main camera with OIS and an f/1.5 aperture. A 13MP ultra-wide shooter sits beside it, while a 32MP selfie camera has been placed in its hole-punch cutout.

And then there’s the Motorola Razr, which features the same new design but skimps a bit in the specs department. Its cover screen is a much smaller 1.5-inch OLED, while its chipset is the mid-range Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.

At 4200mAh, it does get a bigger battery but its power could be tamed a little by the comparatively weaker processor. The main camera here is a 64MP unit but the 13MP ultra-wide and 32MP selfie sensors remain unchanged.

The Motorola Razr+ will be released in the US on June 23 at a price of $999.99. As for the Razr, its price and release date details have been kept under wraps for now.

In Europe and other regions, the phones will be called Razr 40 Ultra and Razr 40. In fact, the former is already available to buy in Europe at €1,199.
