Recently, we reported about Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 getting an over-the-air update for rectifying issues users had with its speed. Now, it’s the Motorola Backflip phone that’s endowed with a software upgrade for better working of the handset. Offered by AT&T, this update will allow users to experience improved messaging, display, camera and Bluetooth functionalities.

With this upgrade users can send long text messages with much faster speed than before. The color and clarity of the display has apparently been worked upon for easy and pleasant usage. Photographers dealing with the issues of random quitting can experience an improved camera application. Users can now also connect their Bluetooth headsets with much more ease and enjoy better audio quality. Now, there isn’t any size limitation on ringtones too.

The overall connection to 3G networks has been improved compared to the previous one. Users can also experience an improved speed of downloading applications from the Android Market. The stability of connecting to additional devices has also been enhanced as earlier it occurred to be passive and the program was found to end unexpectedly. The company seems to have noticed the need for better battery life, enhancing it when it is fully drained and charging.

For installing this software, users need to undergo a two-step process. In the first step, they will receive a message on their notification bars regarding the software update; they need to then select the download option followed by Install now. After this installation, the phone will re-start automatically. Users will receive a notice for downloading the second update as soon as the phone restarts in the second step. Users can watch audios and videos with a better brightness and clarity, thanks to this upgrade.

Users can also manually update the phone, in case they don’t receive any prompt notifications. They can go to their Settings icon, then About phone, followed by System updates. They can then select download and finally install the software.
