The all new Microsoft Surface tablet seems to have literally set the stage for access to the Windows RT and 8 platforms. The fresh slab arrives with a host of other accessories to make the Windows-based experience productive.
The first variant operating on the Windows RT platform tips the scales at 676g and is built to flaunt a profile measuring not more than 9.3mm. Its front panel is dominated by a 10.6-inch ClearType HD display, while the device features configurable memories of 32GB and 64GB.
Besides, the exterior houses slots for microSD, Micro HD Video, USB 2.0 and 2 x 2 MIMO antennae. On the software front, a bunch of Office ‘15’ apps are present, bringing in Word, Office, PowerPoint and more. Additional hardware include a Touch Cover, a Type Cover, a VaporMg case and a kickstand. The entire show is brought to life by an ARM processor operating under the hood.
Second to enter is the Surface for Windows 8 Pro that has certain features common to the aforementioned slate such as the display size and inclusion of the case and stand. It is available in memory options of 64GB and 128GB. Apart from the Touch and Type covers, it tags along a pen with palm block.
Additionally, it entails ports for microSDXC, Mini DisplayPort and USB 3.0 and the 2 × 2 MIMO antennae. It is fueled by a third generation Intel Core chipset hidden within the slab’s slim chassis. The Redmond-based company has gone into intricate details to churn out the tablets in question.
The Microsoft Surface price and release date have not received a mention at present. It is expected to be made available with the launch of the Windows 8 and RT platforms.
