Cloud-based technology is seeing a lot of takers these days and the cost benefits are just a small part of the advantage they offer over physical servers. Microsoft has been publicizing a video pushing the use of the Windows Azure cloud services platform with the Windows Phone 7 OS.

Surfaced by WMPoweruser, the video is all about T-Mobile USA talking about the design process of the Family Room application for the HTC HD7 smartphone running Windows Phone 7. The six-week project leverages the power of cloud computing along with the integrated development ecosystem.

Family Room was created with the help of Windows Phone 7, the Windows Azure platform and Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional. The resultant application offers customers an efficient, secure and reliable communications solution.

It’s good that Microsoft is putting some significant effort intended to enhance the developer experience while the Windows Phone 7 platform is still a relatively young rival in the mobile OS terrain.
