Motorola Cliq XT Android 2.1 upgrade delayed indefinitely

Motorla Android update

The world of Android operating systems has seen two major upgrades this year. First came with the sweetness of Froyo while the second brought along the crispness of Gingerbread. Motorola a company that has this year concentrated pretty hard on the platform has unraveled several beauties operating on it. However, while the production is going on full swing it appears that software upgrades lags behind.

What we are trying to get at is this, that while other phones are enjoying the benefits of Froyo several Motorola handsets are still waiting for an Éclair update. The Motorola Android Software Upgrade News now shows that T-Mobile Cliq XT owners have to still wait a little while more. While on the other hand, owners of Walmart’s Straight Talk Cliq XT will not receive an upgrade at all. They shall be stuck with Android 1.5 only, until the company decides to upgrade them.

With Éclair updates pouring out so slowly, we wonder if users will ever see a Froyo upgrade at all and what about Honeycomb? Handset owners cannot be expected to switch phones every time Google updates its OS, guess it’s time manufacturers like Motorola buck up.
