Microsoft announces Mobile App Store for developers

Microsoft logo Microsoft has announced its Windows Marketplace for Mobile application store to software developers. According to PCWorld, registered developers can now submit their mobile phone software applications to the company.

Todd Brix mentioned that the company will offer several exciting prizes for its applications based on downloads, revenue, usefulness and more. It is likely that developers will have to wait for about 10 business days for certification but can presently start uploading applications to Windows Marketplace.

He further quoted, “Our strategy for all of this is pretty straightforward; we want to create a global marketplace for Windows Phones where developers and users meet to sell and buy high quality and high value applications that make work easier and life more fulfilling.”

This will act as a platform for software developers to earn money on sales by including their marketing materials with applications. Users can purchase software on the site and download applications to their PCs and mobile devices. They can also benefit from the money back guarantee service through the series of payment options offered.

Reportedly, so far the company has a customer base for mobile phone applications of approximately 30 million people.
