The Micromax Funbook P255 has arrived to add to your confusion if you were already scurrying around to get that perfect tablet. As the name suggests, it belongs to the Funbook range of devices from the company and considering that the slate is currently available for a price of Rs 4,499, it definitely falls in the low-cost category.
This compact 7-inch slate doesn’t give you a taste of Jelly Bean, but sticks to Ice Cream Sandwich which is slightly outdated. An OTA update for one of the later versions of the Android OS will be a good thing. Its capacitive multi-touch display renders clear visuals in 800 x 480p resolution and dominates the front side along with a 0.3MP camera. The flip side has a 2MP camera complete with ability to record decent-quality videos.
A 1.2GHz Cortex A8 processor has been integrated into the tablet and it has a Mali-400 GPU and 512MB of RAM for company. There’s 4GB of ROM, but the total internal memory available for hoarding digital content amounts to merely 1.15GB. Nevertheless, an expansion slot has been placed on the chassis for allowing prospective customers to bump up the internal storage by up to 32GB.
The device is even capable of playing full HD videos and lets you browse the web on 3G with a little assistance of an external dongle. It has Wi-Fi for connecting to a hotspot and a USB port for tethering the slate to accessories, computer systems and more. A 2,600mAh lithium polymer battery is responsible for keeping it powered up for internet surfing time of about 4 hours.
The Micromax Funbook P255 is available for Rs 4,499 through Snapdeal, but Flipkart and Infibeam are selling it for Rs 4,799 and Rs 4,899, respectively.
