Being the third largest tablet brand in India, Micromax is bound to release products like the Canvas Tab P680 every now and then. It’s wallet-friendly at a price of Rs 9499 and comes with voice calling support. It was supposed to hit online as well as offline retailers on August 22, but hasn’t made an appearance yet. Before this, Micromax had released a device called the P690 which is similar in specs and costs about Rs 1000 lesser.
Tackling what’s similar between the two tablets first, the Micromax Canvas Tab P680 and the older device have 8-inch WXGA 800 x 1280p screens with 1GB RAM, microSD card support for 32GB extra memory, 4000mAh batteries and dual SIM card slots. They are compatible with 3G networks and allow voice calling. The P690 was launched with Android KitKat however, though the company has promised it’ll be upgradable to Lollipop on which the new variant runs.
The Canvas Tab P680 is powered by a quad core chipset from MediaTek, and the P690 uses a quad core Intel Atom processor. The former has 16GB of in-built space, unlike the latter that makes do with 8GB. If you absolutely need up to 48GB of storage, then the latest Micromax tablet wins in this battle.
The Micromax Canvas Tab P680 sports a redesigned exterior too. Its top and bottom portions are slightly more curvy in comparison to its cheaper predecessor. Even its rear panel is much smoother at the edges. Additionally, dual box speakers for better audio quality can now be found on its back.
