Micello has introduced an innovative application that takes location based services to new horizons. The indoor mapping iPhone app was recently unveiled at DEMO 09.

iPhone users can now navigate and explore shopping malls, convention centers, college campuses, theme parks, stadiums and more, right from their Apple device via this app. The app features more than 150 indoor maps of shopping malls and college campuses. Micello plans to introduce over 5000 places in major metropolitan areas of the United States, by the end of next year.

“The maps today bring you to the door. We take you inside the place. It’s the last mile, the unchartered territory. We are building the foundation for indoor location based services and creating an eco-system similar to what’s happening in the outdoor space,” mentioned Ankit Agarwal, Founder and CEO of Micello.

“Micello is really all about people, places and events at indoor locations. What’s happening here and who is here now,” he continued.

With the tag-based search capability, users can search for products, people and events inside the communities. Maps are also personalized depending on the users’ interests, profile, and usage history. Further, users can find their Facebook, Twitter and mobile phonebook friends directly in the community map. Micello aims to incorporate airports, museums, theme parks, downtown areas, golf courses, fitness centers, and many other types of places in the future.

The Micello application can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store on iPhone in the United States for free. The company plans to offer the app on Blackberry OS, Android, WebOS platforms in the coming months.
