Rumors about the Meizu MX5 have been swirling today after the company sent out press invites for an event which will take place in New Delhi on August 26. It’s dubbing the day as its official brand launch date, even though it had arrived in India back in May. While there’s no mention of what product is set to be unveiled there, it could very well be its flagship phone.
The smartphone was released in China back in June with its price starting at CNY 1800 (roughly Rs 18500) for the 16GB model. If the company decides to price it similarly in India, it would pose some serious competition against other Chinese rivals flooding the market since the Meizu MX5 has some pretty good features for a mid-range phone.
It has a 5.5-inch super AMOLED full HD screen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The handset runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop-based Flyme OS 4.5 and a 3150mAh battery. The 4G-ready MX5 is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795T) processor, clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with a PowerVR G6200 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

The dual-SIM device comes in three internal storage variants – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. None of them have a microSD card slot to expand its memory capabilities. Moving on to the Meizu phone’s cameras, it has a 20.7MP rear lens accompanied by dual-tone dual-LED flash and laser-aided focusing along with a 5MP front-facing snapper with an aperture of f/2.0.
