Another stark white addition to the wide range of smartphones in the market is the Meizu MX that’s chalked for a 2012 launch. Owing not only to its looks but the initials as well, the company promotes it as a dream phone.

The MX part of the moniker is adopted from the Chinese characters of the word ‘dream’ or ‘meng xiang’, says the press release on Engagdet. The rear side of the handset is completely whitewashed, while the front edges are dressed in black. The 4-inch AVS touch display with 292ppi resolution, delivers an aspect ratio of 3:2. The functions of this device are powered by a 1.4GHz dual core processor accompanied by 1GB RAM.

Evidently, the makers have considered the needs of avid photographers, which is why the smartphone includes an 8MP main camera. It is equipped with features like LED flash, gyroscope, and other such sensors. What’s more, the device seems apt for readers as it supports both horizontal as well as vertical layouts.

The handset runs on the Flyme OS from Meizu which shows off a custom designed user interface, and supports cloud services like data synchronization and more. The music store is accessible only to users in China, while the applications market seems open to all. The chassis of the MX is designed to include ports for coaxial digital audio output and microUSB. It also supports connectivity options like MHL, USB host and so on.

The 16GB Meizu MX price is revealed to be ¥2,999. It is expected to be commercially available by January 1 next year.
